Help me find my dad.

I am looking for Maurice Blythe Barrett. He was also nicknamed "Blackie" or "Tank". His parents were Joseph Chester and Elise Barrett. He was born in Indiana in 1926, and traveled about the country until 1959, when he disappeared. I have heard stories that he was a Justice of the Peace at one time, a Canadian Mounty at one time and also worked with the Princeton Indiana Police Department. He was in New York for awhile and also Lousiana.

He was in the Marines and was honorably discharged. He was in Ocala, Florida at the time of his disappearance. The story is that he was blown up in a motel fire on December 14, 1959 which is 2 days after I was born. My mother's name was Phyllis Orma Baker. I have tried to find out more about him, but Social Security has no record of the Social Security Number I obtained from the military. Social Security also has no record of his death.

I used the Freedom of Information Privacy Act and obtained his military records.

Supposedly, he is buried in IOOF cemetary in Indiana.

I have some of his personal effects which included a private pilots license, ham radio operators license, and other documentation.

There have been close friends that have reported seeing him since 1959, as recently as 1963 in Indiana.

If you knew my dad, please contact me, or anyone knowing anything about him, information about him, his whereabouts, his past, would you please post a blog here and I will be happy to give you any more information that I have.
